Flyers Place Jordan Weal on Waivers

Essentially, the Flyers needed to make one cut to finalize the roster at 23. That move could go official in the next 24 hours.

The Flyers have placed forward Jordan Weal on waivers.

Weal had a strong preseason, scoring two goals and getting playing time with some of the top players on the team. That said, Weal was always projected as an NHL-AHL in between player, so the move isn't as surprising as it seems.

Weal's speed and scoring potential — he was among the league leaders in points in the AHL two seasons ago — could make him a desirable player, despite his limited action in the NHL, just 14 games in his career.

If Weal does clear waivers, he will join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms, who already have an excellent roster loaded with talent. This also seems to guarantee that both Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny have roster spots, though the final roster doesn't need to be announced until Tuesday by 5 p.m.

The Flyers season opener is rapidly approaching as well, as they will face the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night at 10:30 p.m.
