Hellickson showcases against interested Marlins

By Greg Vince, Sports Talk Philly staff writer

Starting Pitching Matchup:

Miami Marlins (51-42) Philadelphia Phillies (43-52)
LHP Wei-Yin Chen RHP Jeremy Hellickson
(5-3, 4.90 ERA) (6-7, 4.03 ERA)

The Phillies have played two very good game vs. Miami this series but unfortunately do not have any wins to show for it. Tonight Pete Mackanin is throwing all the righties at the left handed Wei-Yin Chen in hopes something clicks. Odubel Herrera and Cody Ashe get a day of rest in favor of Tyler Goeddel and Jimmy Paredes who have both been used sparingly lately. Chen has been fairly mediocre this season with a 4.90 ERA so it seems like a good opportunity to steal some runs.

As reported a few days ago, the Marlins do have interest in Jeremy Hellickson who seems like a plausible candidate to be moved by August 1. The Mets tagged him for four runs over six innings last Friday but Hellickson has been a consistent and durable starter this season and many teams could use that come the trade deadline.
