Deladelphia: Sixers Win Something and Sevens Begin Season

PHIIND

Welcome to the city of Deladelphia, where we talk about the Delaware 87ers and the Philadelphia 76ers!

Sixerdelphia General News:

We found out the 87ers and The Comcast Network have a deal where TCN will air select home games. Additionally, D-League games will air on Facebook Live, instead of YouTube like last season.

Allen Iverson stopped by a Sixers practice and said some things. Let me get out of the way and let you hit the link.

Three numbers from Sixers' first win:

  1. Somebody had to win: The Sixers went into Friday's game winless and the Pacers went in winless on the road. So, yeah, somebody had to win. Sixers nearly gave it up. Up 5 with 25 seconds to go, the Sixers ended up in OT. The problems in close games live on, but Embiid took over in OT and the Sixers finally won.
  2. A win in years: I didn't realize this stat until a week or so ago, but the Sixers had not won a game in October and November since 2013. TWO THOUSAND THIRTEEN (or TWENTY THIRTEEN). It actually adds up when you consider the historic losing streaks the Sixers started the seasons in 2014 and 2015. Still, that's impressive. So, take care, 44-game losing streak!
  3. Back to back OT: The Sixers played the Pacers two times in a row. That's fine. But, they went to OT in both games, and the last time the Sixers played in back to back OT games was in January 2011.

Recap of Games and the Game of the Week

The Sixers had an interesting week of games. They went the distance with the defending champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Clutch problems did them in and they lost by one.

Then, next game, they got blown out by the Jazz. It was hard to watch. They played a heck of a game against the Pacers on Wednesday but, again, clutch issues surfaced and they lost in OT. Joel Embiid didn't play in that game. Embiid did play in the rematch at home and he sure made a difference. Games like this is what we fans were waiting for. I hated they ended up in OT again, but so happy for the win.

Out of those games, my game of the week was against the Cavs. Here's the thing: The Sixers played out of their minds in that game and pushed the champs to the limit. Well…not really the limit, but they pushed them. This was a really good game for the guys and I found it more impressive and satisfying as a fan over the win. That wasn't an easy choice though.

Here come the Sevens!

The 87ers begin their season against the Westchester Knicks. As mentioned above, you can watch them via Facebook Live. In the near future, I will talk about how to watch the Sevens during their season; especially when you can watch them on TCN. Now begins the tough decision for me: Watch Sixers or Sevens when they play at the same time. Sigh. Usually, my TV is on Sixers and computer on Sevens. Probably doing the same thing again.

Prediction of the next week:

Last week, I said the Sixers would get their first win of the season. I was sort of right. I said they would beat the Jazz, but that ended up being their worst game. I didn't anticipate the Pacers' implosion either and I'm glad the Sixers took advantage of it.

For this next week, I'm going to predict the Sevens win their first game of the season.
