It is a tradition for former players who are big proponents for the team to take the stage and announce the team’s picks at the NFL Draft.

At the 2018 draft in Dallas, Eagles Alumni David Akers took the stage to announce the Eagles second-round pick.<./p>

Suffice it to say that he did an amazing job even though many were not expecting much from the kicker.

At the 2019 draft, which will be April 25-27 in Nashville, Tennessee, the Eagles will have former wide receiver Mike Quick and former tight end Brent Celek represent them, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philly.

Many fans will quickly remember that the Birds do not have a third-rounder in 2019 right now, but as Zangaro points out, they didn’t have a second in 2018 when Akers was scheduled and a trade back is always possible as Howie Roseman seeks to develop more draft capital.

As it stands now, the Eagles currently have seven picks in the draft.

Eagles 2019 Draft Picks

Round Pick Number Acquired

2 53 Trade (Ravens)
2 57 Original
4 127 Original
4 138 Compensatory
5 163 Original

Mike Quick, who is currently set to announce the 53rd and 57th overall picks in the draft, spent nine seasons (1982-1990) with the Eagles and played all of his 101 games in the league with the team. He led the league in yards (1,409) in 1983 and was selected to two All-Pro teams and five Pro Bowls. Of course, he also serves as the color commentator on the Eagles radio broadcast alongside Merrill Reese.

Another player who played his entire career with the Birds, Brent Celek played 11 seasons in Philadelphia. Unlike Quick, however, Celek played a far less glamorous position and was often utilized as a blocker rather than a pass catcher. As such, he was never voted into a Pro Bowl and playing in a division that featured Jason Witten every single year, he never made an All-Pro team, either. Nonetheless, Celek was an integral part of the franchise’s only Super Bowl winning team. While he is not currently scheduled to announce any picks, a trade up and/or down could very well give him one.
