We all hoped the Sixers dream of the walking away with the No. 1 overall pick would become reality tonight. It didn’t, but apparently someone in the team’s public relations department did.
Via Eric Cohen on Facebook, the team’s e-mail distributor, “Philadelphia 76ers Sixth Man Email Club” sent out a message claiming they did. Despite a banner acknowledging the assignment of the third pick, the message read:
“For just the second time in franchise history, the Sixers have won the NBA Draft Lottery, receiving the first-overall pick in next month’s draft as a result.”
Looks like someone got too excited ahead of time, hoped for the best and planned ahead to send the note. When the dream was squashed, they did not revise to reflect the night not going according to plan.
