The Tuesday TANK Report

The Tuesday TANK report

Each week, we take a look at where the Sixers rank among some of the teams competing for the top lottery picks.

TANK Power Rankings (based on chances to finish with No. 1 lottery odds)

  1. New York (8-37)
  2. Minnesota (7-37)
  3. PHILADELPHIA (8-37)
  4. LA Lakers (12-33)

  8. Boston (16-27)
  9. Detroit (17-28)
  10. Sacramento (16-27)

Not quite tanking, but sitting in “basketball purgatory”.

  1. Brooklyn (18-26)
  2. Indiana (16-30)
  3. Denver (18-27)
  4. New Orleans (24-21)

TANK observations of the week:

  • The Boston Celtics went out to the West Coast and turned into a pretty decent team over the past week. They gave the Clippers a rough finish, then won three out of four games over five nights. They defeated Portland on an Evan Turner three-pointer, Denver with some clutch shooting down the stretch from Avery Bradley, and Utah on the back end of a back-to-back. Their only loss? To Golden State, whom hasn’t lost at home since November 11.
  • Detroit’s hopes of climbing back towards the playoffs took a hit when Brandon Jennings tore his Achilles tendon. Now, they likely are back in it to tank. Maybe they can re-acquire Josh Smith.
  • Now, the Lakers can rest Kobe Bryant without any guilt or hearing any “tanking” complaints. Bryant is out for the season with a shoulder injury.

TANK games to look out for this week:

  • Wednesday: Boston at Minnesota
  • Friday: Minnesota at PHILADELPHIA
  • Saturday: Sacramento at Indiana
