The Tuesday TANK Report

The Tuesday TANK report

Each week, we take a look at where the Sixers rank among some of the teams competing for the top lottery picks.

TANK Power Rankings (based on chances to finish with No. 1 lottery odds)

  1. PHILADELPHIA (2-18)
  2. LA Lakers (5-16)
  3. Detroit (3-18)
  4. Minnesota (4-16)
  5. New York (4-18)
  6. Utah (5-16)
  7. Charlotte (5-15)
  8. Orlando (9-14)

Not quite tanking, but sitting in “basketball purgatory”.

  1. Boston (7-12)
  2. Indiana (7-14)
  3. New Orleans (9-10)
  4. Denver (9-12)

TANK observations of the week:

  • It’s hard to imagine a scenario in which Anthony Davis, for as great as he is, can lead the Pelicans to a top-4 seed and make noise in the playoffs anytime soon. Unfortunately for Davis, he’s just playing undermanned as far as teammates go, playing against the powerhouses of the West.
  • This may sound odd speaking of a team that has lost 11 of its 19 games, but Brooklyn is actually doing a better job than I expected this season. I thought by now they’d be coming into the tanking picture.
  • What would the Knicks record be WITHOUT Carmelo Anthony? That team is tanking without a cause, playing without a draft pick.

TANK games to look out for this week:

  • Wednesday: Boston at Charlotte
  • Saturday: Atlanta at Orlando
