The Flyers were back at Skate Zone in Voorhees for practice again on Sunday with the focus starting to turn to game action. The Flyers will be playing three times this week, with split-squad action on Monday and home games on Tuesday and Friday.
Rosters were released for Monday's split-squad games with some players taking the ice in Allentown at the PPL Center, home of the Flyers AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Others will play on the road at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Both games are against the New York Islanders and will start at 7 p.m.
Headlining the group in Allentown will be the likely top line of Claude Giroux, Jake Voracek and Michael Raffl as well as first-round picks from the 2015 NHL Draft, Ivan Provorov and Travis Konecny. Dave Hakstol and Gord Murphy will coach the team in Allentown.
In Brooklyn, Wayne Simmonds, Sean Couturier and Matt Read headline a group that includes top Flyers prospects Sam Morin, Shayne Gostisbehere and Robert Hagg. Ian Laperriere and Joe Mullen will coach the team in Brooklyn.
Notably absent from both rosters are goalie Steve Mason, defenseman Mark Streit and defensive prospect Travis Sanheim. 41 players are participating in the two games and with only so much room for veterans and prospects, some players will be left to continue practices close to home.
