Phillies former #1 pick and prospect Jesse Biddle took the mound tonight for the Clearwater Threshers.    He was outstanding, pitching seven no-hit innings with 12 strikeouts.   Then, he was removed from the game, despite the no-hitter.

One would assume a pitch count was the reason for the removal.  With 12 strikeouts and two walks.  I would hope that they were not overly cautious.  The Threshers won 11-0, but a no-hitter would sure have been neat.

Reliever Kenny Giles entered in the eighth inning and pitched a hitless eighth.  After getting the first out of the ninth, a weak bloop single to center field broke up the no-hitter.
