Collector’s Corner: April 13, 2014

Phestival_218x118

Let this week's "Collector's Corner" post serve as a reminder that tickets for the annual Phillies Phestival go on sale at 9 AM tomorrow morning.

The Phestival benefiting ALS research has been a staple of the Phillies Community program for the past 30 years – raising over $14 million in the process.  It is a great opportunity for fans to meet the players, collect autographs and walk away with some great experiences.  This year's event will be held on Monday, May 19th.

Though the team may not be drawing them into Citizens Bank Park for games this season, I would expect tickets for this event to continue selling pretty well this season.  With the core of the 2oo8 World Champions still hanging around, a lot of collectors will want to fill-in in their team projects (at a reduced price) for as long as they can.  It's not all about autographs, though.  The photo booths, which this year feature Chase Utley and Ryne Sandberg, are always a popular attraction.  Last year, I posed for a photo with my son and Mike Schmidt.  There are also many games to keep the kids busy for a few hours!

If you have not been to the Phillies Phestival in the past, here are a few tips:

  • Reserve your tickets online.  Following a one-year, phone-only sales policy, most types of tickets will once again available through phillies.com – which will be a much easier method. Note: Children's admission and admission-only tickets must be purchased by phone (215-463-1000).
  • Autograph tickets are assigned at random.  You will not know who is signing at your assigned booth until the event date.
  • Get there when gates open (4:30 PM this year).  There is a lot to do, and crowds make it tough to squeeze everything in.

Admission Packages:

  • Admission Package – includes admission ticket, program book and tickets for two autograph booths – $30
  • Admission (no autograph tickets) – includes ticket, program book – $15 *phone order only
  • Children's admission (ages 3-10) – includes ticket, program book, but no autographs – $5 *phone order only

Extras:

  • Photo Booths – Chase Utley ($50) and Ryne Sandberg ($50)
  • Bullpen Throw – $10
  • Games like "Every Roll's a Winner" and grab bags with Phillies memorabilia
