Jerryd Bayless likely to miss first month of season

One of the bigger pick-ups for the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason was veteran point guard Jerryd Bayless. Unfortunately, Bayless has been dealing with a sore wrist since training camp and will miss at least a month with a torn ligament, according to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman.

Philadelphia 76ers guard Jerryd Bayless is likely to miss the first month of the regular season while he recovers from a torn ligament in his left wrist, sources told ESPN.

The team announced last week that Bayless will not have surgery on his wrist, but did not put a timetable on the injury.

This may not come as much of a surprise to many, as Bayless was unable to play in any of the Sixers’ preseason games. He was tabbed to be the teams’ starting point guard after averaging 10.4 points and 3.1 assists per game last season with the Milwaukee Bucks.

With Bayless out for a month, point guard duties will continue to fall upon Sergio Rodriguez and T.J. McConnell. In addition to Bayless, both Nerlens Noel (knee/groin) and Ben Simmons (foot) will be inactive to start the 2016-17 season.
