Phillies “Willing To Listen” On Domonic Brown, Ben Revere

Jayson Stark of ESPN appeared on the "Sports Bash" with Mike Gill of 97.3 ESPN Atlantic City to talk about the Phillies' offseason.   We knew already that Ruben Amaro was making some offers in the early going to some free agents.   However, much of what the Phillies could do may come in the form of a trade.  Stark himself seemed surprised when he made some calls to hear about what the Phillies were doing.

What kind of trades could the Phillies make?

"One guy the Phillies seem to be willing to listen to offers on is Dom Brown"

Stark says that there are the untradables: Chase Utley, Jimmy Rollins, and the near-untradeable such as Ryan Howard and Jonathan Papelbon.

"It all depends how creative Ruben is going to be."

Being creative could be trading Domonic Brown and then replacing his power on the free agent market.

Another item Stark mentioned is that Halladay is less and less likely to return to the Phillies at this point.   As last season played out the Phillies found more and more reasons to feel less and less comfortable with what he can offer the team.

On the converse, Halladay may look for someone who can give him a chance to pitch but also to win.   The Phillies may not be that team at this point.  The Phillies and Halladay simply may not be the best fit for each other at this point, Stark said.
