To be a Philadelphia Eagle and be honored for any kind of award is an incredible honor, but to be a rookie and recognized by the national media is something that is truly special.
On Tuesday, Eagles rookie defensive lineman Derek Barnett was named to the Pro Football Writers of America's All-Rookie Team.

Along with Barnett, the other defensive linemen that were awarded with the honor of being on the All-Rookie Team were 2017 first overall draft pick Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, Carl Lawson of the Cincinnati Bengals, and Giants' Dalvin Tomlinson.

Derek Barnett had a solid rookie season for the Eagles, finishing the 2017 season with 19 tackles, five sacks, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries, one for a touchdown.
Barnett, who played at Tennessee, was drafted by Philadelphia with the 14th pick in this past year's draft. His claim to fame was upending legendary Reggie White as the Volunteers' all-time sack leader.
The Eagles were in need for a pass rusher on the left side, and they took a chance on Barnett, who with everything considered, had a relatively quiet season for the team. He really started to take a form of his own at the end of the season.
Now in the playoffs, Barnett has really developed into role that will really help the Eagles solidify the defense. In just his rookie season, he's already shown the kind of potential he will bring to the team for many years to come.
