Halftime Report: Eagles at Bears
Demetrius Jackson released, team 'high on' Haywood Highsmith

Post-Game Recap: He Hit the Upright!

By Matthew Kaplan

Somehow, some way, the Eagles pulled off the victory. This game would come down to ex-Eagle Cody Parkey as, once again, the Eagles would not make it easy. It started early as the Eagles would score first after a first drive that would look very fluent as they moved the ball down the field with ease. After that first quarter score, the Eagles would begin to struggle. They would also suffer two costly mistakes because of poor decision making by Nick Foles. The rest of the first half would see the Bears hit two field goals and go into the half with a lead, 6-3.

Both teams in the first half would look highly ineffective on the ground and the difference would prove to be missed opportunities and mistakes. The Bears would make less mistakes having zeros in both turnovers and penalties. As Tucker Bagley would state in the halftime report, the Eagles needed to cut out the turnovers and stop playing in to Chicago's strengths.

The second half would get off to a flying start as Nick Foles would find Dallas Goedert in the end zone to give the Eagles a 10-6 lead. The Bears would not fail to respond as a drive to end the third quarter would lead to an early fourth quarter field goal. Then, after a quick stop, the Bears would take the lead behind a 22-yard touchdown throw from Mitch Trubisky to Allen Robinson. Both would have strong games as Trubisky would have 303 yards through the air with his top target Robinson having 10 receptions for 143 yards.

Down the stretch, Nick Foles, calm, cool and collected as always, would lead his team down for a late-game score to give the Eagles a chance to win the game. A failed two-point conversion would give the Bears a chance to win. The Bears would make some big plays and set the previously mentioned Cody Parkey up for a 43-yard field goal attempt. After coach Pederson would take his final time out before the ball was snapped, the game came down to this kick and, for the fifth time this season, Parkey would hit the upright and miss the kick. The final score would be 16-15 as the Eagles pull off the upset and head to New Orleans next week.
