We knew Roy Oswalt was going to sign soon, and despite reports that Oswalt had been working out for the Phillies, it appears that he may land with the Texas Rangers.   The move makes sense for the Rangers, as they just lost Neftali Feliz to the disabled list.  There was speculation that Oswalt could return to the Phillies after losing their own starter Vance Worley to the disabled list.

Rangers manager Ron Washington made radio appearances for an ESPN affiliate in Dallas and MLB Network Radio, and both times affirmed that he would vote yes on signing Roy Oswalt, but cautioned that the front office had to decide:

"If you put it like that, I would say yes, but I think (general manager) Jon Daniels and them will decide," Washington said. "Oswalt has to want to come to Texas and we have to get him ready. The guy is a quality pitcher. But I'm more than certain there are other teams trying to do the same things. When you put it the way you put it and I had to give you a yes or no, I'd say yes."

Buster Olney says there is no agreement in place, or even a formal offer made.

Oswalt reportedly threw for the Red Sox, Phillies, and Rangers.
