Phillies Season Ticket Holders Receive Postseason Invoices

By Matt Rappa, Sports Talk Philly editor

Even though the Philadelphia Phillies sit three games out of the National League East and over four games out of the second National League Wild Card spot with 23 games remaining in the season, the club administered postseason invoices to season ticket holders on Thursday.

The Phillies' emailed opening invoice statement reads:

"Thank you for your support of the Phillies as a season ticket holder. It's been an exciting season so far, with meaningful September baseball ahead. As of today, the Phillies are three games behind the Atlanta Braves for the division lead. With seven games against the Braves remaining, we are preparing for the potential of postseason play and are contacting you to outline your postseason ticket offer."

The Phillies are offering partial season ticket holders the opportunity to purchase four pre-selected postseason home games — one per each of the potential four rounds — with the same number of seats as in their regular season partial plan. Partial ticket holders can select their desired seating category, but are not guaranteed their season ticket location. Full season ticket holders, on the other hand, can purchase their season ticket location for all potential postseason home games.

As an added benefit, all season ticket holders receive an exclusive pricing discount compared to "single-game postseason ticket pricing," per the email, which continues:

"To take advantage of your exclusive partial season pricing and secure your seat locations for the postseason, you will need to redeem your offer by Friday, September 21. Postseason seat locations are based on availability so there is an advantage to act quickly to reserve the best possible seat location. Please note, if the Phillies do not qualify for the postseason, your payment would serve as a deposit towards renewing your 2019 season tickets.

Your 2019 season ticket renewal statement will be sent via e-mail shortly after the conclusion of the Phillies season. Any unused postseason money will serve as a deposit towards the renewal of your 2019 season tickets. Please note that tickets related to postseason games not played have no cash value and credit for their cost (net the $20 processing charge if the Phillies qualify for the postseason) will be applied to your 2019 season ticket statement. If you would like a refund instead of a credit, please visit phillies.com/postseasonrefund within five business days after the Phillies season is complete (including the potential for postseason play)."

The Phillies are listed as having a 31.2 percent chance to qualify for the postseason, according to ESPN's latest standings. Like the invoice's opening paragraph suggests, the club's stretch of seven of 11 games against the Atlanta Braves to conclude the season will be the ultimate decider.
