The Eagles have chosen to keep Cre'Von Leblanc on the 53-man roster despite his recent injury.
That alone shows confidence in his ability and the fact that the team believes he can contribute this season.
For those needing further display of this confidence, the team has announced a one-year extension for LeBlanc, who will now be under team control through 2020.
Doug Pederson said that Ronald Darby and Sidney Jones will be the outside starters at corner with Avonte Maddox in the slot. He also said Rasul Douglas will see some playing time despite not starting.
LeBlanc is the only other corner on the roster, making his return vital for the team's depth. The team does have Jalen Mills, but he is currently on the PUP list.
Extending LeBlanc gives the Eagles four corners under contract for 2020 - Avonte Maddox, Sidney Jones, Rasul Douglas and LeBlanc. Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills will be free agents at season's end.
LeBlanc joined the Eagles in the middle of last season following his release form the Lions. While he initially struggled in the new defense, his improvement was vital as it solidified the slot corner position for a team that had only one starter remaining in the secondary.
