The Philadelphia Phillies made a roster move this morning, placing catcher Andrew Knapp on the disabled list with a hand contusion. To take his place on the 25-man roster, the Phils recalled right-hander Zach Eflin from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to start tonight against the Braves in Atlanta.

Knapp left Thursday's game after being hit in the hand with a foul ball. He had hoped to avoid a DL stint, but with the team placing him on it, it's clear that his hand hasn't improved enough at this point. In his first full big league season, Knapp is hitting .253 with eight doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs. Although his numbers don't blow anyone away, he's shown steady improvement this season splitting time with Cameron Rupp. Phillies prospect Jorge Alfaro will get some more playing time with Knapp shelved for a bit.
Coming back to Philadelphia is right-hander Zach Eflin. The oft-injured 23-year-old has a 6.17 ERA in eight starts this season for Philadelphia. He's settled down for the most part in Triple-A, allowing two earned runs or less in seven of his last 10 starts. Eflin's last outing wasn't a great one though, allowing five runs in six innings on August 3. He'll get the nod tonight at SunTrust Park in Atlanta. In two starts against the Braves in his career, Eflin is 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA.
