Eagles-Redskins: Sunday Six Pack

By Kevin Durso, Sports Talk Philly editor

It's taken five weeks, but the Eagles will finally play their first game within the division.

The six games against NFC East rivals are just as crucial for the Eagles as the first four were and as the stretch of games against tough NFC teams will be later in the year. They are a test to see where this team stacks up against divisional competition.

With that, the first meeting with the NFC East happens against the Washington Redskins on Sunday afternoon, and the Eagles are looking to get revenge on the end of a rivalry that hasn't gone their way as of late.

Here are six players to watch in Sunday's game.

Carson Wentz – Last Sunday, the rookie suffered his first loss, a result that was sealed by his first career interception. Even in defeat, nothing seems to phase the Eagles young quarterback. He's been tremendous so far this season, but now that he's entering a game with some adversity based on the previous result, it's another chance to see how he handles things. This is also the first divisional game of his career, which always feature added intensity and energy.

Kirk Cousins – The Redskins quarterback has been able to carve up the Eagles defense in the past. There are some new elements to the Eagles defense that could certainly change that, but Cousins has weapons at his disposal and the Redskins are a good team at moving the ball through the passing game.

Ryan Mathews – The loss in Detroit happened for several reasons, but the defining moment was Mathews' fumble that led to the Lions game-winning score. Two weeks after being the forgotten man in the backfield, playing just two snaps against the Steelers, he was the primary running back in Detroit and should be again this week in Washington.

DeSean Jackson – The former Eagles wide receiver has made an impact against his former team before and seems to revel in the moment. As a noted deep threat against a secondary that's still subject to allowing a lot of yardage, take note of where No. 11 is on the field at all times.

Nigel Bradham – The game last week swung in the Eagles favor in the second half and particularly for the defense when Bradham got into the game. The Eagles defense is simply different with Bradham in the game and he could be a key player for the Eagles defense this week.

Josh Norman – The big offseason addition for the Redskins has been subject to some criticism in the past, but make no mistake about it, he is one of the more dangerous cornerbacks in the NFL. And with the Eagles wide receivers lacking a true No. 1, the Redskins top cornerback can be moved around the field to cover several different receiving options for the Eagles.
