Eagles to don white jerseys vs. Lions

By Tim Kelly, Sports Talk Philly editor

Coming off of the bye, the Philadelphia Eagles will wear their white jerseys when they take on the Detroit Lions Sunday at Ford Field, according to Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro:

This will be the second time that the Eagles will wear their white jerseys with green pants, with the first coming in their 29-14 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 2. Their other two victories, which came against the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers, came while they were wearing their midnight green jerseys and white pants.

In recent history, the Eagles have often worn their white jerseys with white pants early in the season, though they are yet to do that in the regular season. In Week 2, the Bears wore their white pants, which may have been why the Eagles didn't wear their white pants, though in Week 1 of the 2015 season the Eagles wore their white pants when playing the Atlanta Falcons, who were also wearing white pants. In this week, they are in a dome so they may not feel temperatures force them to wear white-on-white, though again, they wore white-on-white in the Georgia dome against the Falcons a year ago. Fans traditionally prefer the white-on-green look to the white-on-white look, so perhaps that accounts for the change.
