Former Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Cedric Hunter has been voted best center fielder of the Mexican Baseball League, as part of #NovenaIdeal, or the top-nine players for each of the league's position through a vote on social media.
Hunter, 30, of the Bravos de Leon, slashed .308/.339/.520 in the first half of the season, with 12 home runs and 51 RBI over 57 games. In the second half, Hunter posted an improved .331/.404/.519 slash while tallying nearly as many walks (23) as strikeouts (25) over 49 games.
Fellow former Phillies outfielders Domonic Brown and Delmon Young were also in the running for best right fielder and best designated hitter, respectively. Brown lost out to Yeison Asencio, while voting results have yet to be announced for designated hitter.

Hunter appeared in just 13 games with the Phillies to start out the 2016 season, collecting only two singles, one solo home run, two walks and six strikeouts spanning 36 plate appearances (.088/.139/.176). Hunter was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on April 18 in favor of David Lough, and he never returned to the Major Leagues.
On Nov. 23, 2016, MLB issued Hunter a 50-game suspension for testing positive for amphetamine. The Decatur, Georgia, native only appeared in six other Major League games in his career, five seasons prior with the San Diego Padres.
